Archive: Bibliographic Workshop 2024/2025

What is the Bibliographic Workshop?
The workshop consists of theoretical and practical lessons, and the successful completion of an assessment and a final interview on research strategies and analysis of research tools, the use of Italian and foreign databases, particularly in the economic-legal field, and the research and evaluation of information. The importance of avoiding plagiarism by respecting copyright law is emphasized, as well as applying the rules for the correct reuse of bibliographic information, citation writing, and proper management of bibliographic references. 

Who can enroll?
The workshop is open to undergraduate students of the School of Economics and Management at the University of Siena and to the students of other disciplines after authorization of the respective course Teaching Committee. It is offered in both italian and english language, with a maximum of 70 students per edition. Attendance is mandatory.

Who is considered eligible to obtain n. 2 credits and the Information literacy: basic level badge?
Undergraduate students enrolled in the School of Economics and Management at the University of Siena who:

  • attended 100% of the lectures with at least 60% in synchronous mode, and completed 100% of the exercises

  • passed the evaluation test and the final interview


Which skills are certified by the Badge?

The owner of this Badge by attending the course has strengthened the following skills:

  1. Identify the most effective strategies for formulating bibliographic research;

  2. Identify the most appropriate tool for bibliographic research;

  3. Use the functions in the various tools to filter one's bibliographic research;

  4. Use Italian and foreign databases in the economic-legal field;

  5. Select bibliographic research results by evaluating the authoritativeness of sources;

  6. Identify the copyright of scientific production and documentary material;

  7. Identify when there is a risk of incurring the crime of plagiarism while writing a thesis or article;

  8. Know how to correctly cite sources used in writing a thesis or article;

  9. Correctly apply a citation style for all types of documents to be cited.
